Firstly, we would like to thanks Equatorial Hotel for the invitation for the food testing session. Basically is was a Buka Puasa Ramahdan Buffet Dinner presented by Nada Lama, Hotel Equatorial Penang.
Nada Lama was just renovated and refurbished. Overall it provides a cozy environment and there are indoor and outdoor seat which convenience to those smoker and non-smoker. The dining area was spacious and most important is the varieties of food was amazingly wide.

Acar-acar is a type of vegetable pickles which made from mixed vegetables such as cucumber, carrot, cabbage… which are pickled with vinegar and aromatic spices. Acar-acar is commonly served as a condiment to be eaten with a main course.

The Cold Plates
Besides acar-acar as above mentioned, there are types of cold plate starter like fresh prawn and mussels.
The Variety of Curry
If you stay in Malaysia, curry was a common dish to be appear on the dining table. In these buffet, there are few type of curry to satisfy your appetite, from sour spicy to sweet spicy. In Malay, we called curry as ‘Gulai’ or ‘Kari’ and you can find different types of ‘Gulai’ or ‘Kari’ here, eg: Gulai Ikan Tongkol, Gaging Rendang, Kari Kepala Ikan, Sotong Lemak Cili Api, Udang Sambal Petai…
Usually curry was served with white rice, ‘Nasi Lemak’ or ‘Nasi Kerabu’.
Variety of Dishes
Besides Curry, there are others dishes, such as Harrisa Garden Vegetables (top left), Sliced Chicken Szechuan Bean Sauce (top right), Singapore Fried Bee Hoon (middle left), Beef Goulash (middle right), Braised Mustard Heart with Garlic (bottom left) and the Signature Equatorial Chili Crab.
Lemang is a traditional food made of glutinous rice, coconut milk and salt, cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaves. Lemang is a perfect match for ‘Kari’ and ‘Gulai’.
Moving towards the outdoor section, there are few food stalls.
The Grill Station which also located at the outdoor section provides a wide variety of selection for grill items, such as satay, sausages, poultry, seafood and etc.

Besides dished showed as above, there are wide selections of traditional kuih-muih, noodle station, soup and porridge counter and beverages…
